Bizu Style Studio by Spinmaster

I was sent a Bizu Style Studio to try out for Blog Match. Bizu is a new creation by Spinmaster which is suitable for ages 6+.

We opened the box and was greeted with these contents.

There was instructions include on how to thread the beads, but we didn’t find the instructions for putting the storage tower together very clear.
Brooke is 7 and needed adult assistance to assemble the storage tower, in fact it took three of us to put it together and figure out how to use it, it just didn’t seem very clear to us. But once it was completed then it was done, and there is no need to take it apart again. The storage tower also spins. The idea is that you put the beads in the holes and then simply spin the tower until you get to the animal sequence you want to make, then simply drop them out.

Once it was sorted Brooke couldn’t wait to make one of the cute animals she had seen on the side of the box.
So she got the beading tool and put an elastic on and started threading on the animal pieces, with a little bit of help from us, she had a bracelet.

Brooke loved wearing her creation

We then found out you can simply twist the bracelet and it turns into an animal!

Bizu is quite a fiddly toy, but I love the storage tower, too many times toys come with no storage and the pieces get lost. Bizu is perfect for children who can sit still and concentrate, just like Brooke. It has the cute factor, and even the tidying up is fun with the spinning storage tower. It was a hit with Brooke, and I am sure she will have many fays of fun creating different creations.

You can find out more about Bizu online at

You can Bizu from all good toy shops including Amazon.

Ravensburger Puzzle Club – Our first puzzle has arrived!

We were over the moon to be chosen to be part of the Ravensburger Puzzle Club! We love puzzles in our house, and as a mum I love the benefits of my children doing puzzles.
Jordan my eldest son has autism and adhd, so any tasks that help improve his attention span is brilliant, and puzzles really do that. Jordan also has Lax-Ligaments in his fingers, wrists and other joints, so any task that helps his fine motor skills is great therapy to help strengthen up his ligaments to aid him with holding a pen. Doing a puzzle is not just beneficial to Jordan though, they help all children who might not have additional needs. My 7 year old daughter Brooke loves putting together puzzles and so does out 20 month old son Mark! They are fantastic fun, and really help hand eye coordination as well as getting their brains ticking with some problem solving!

As our first puzzle we were sent the Ravensburger Disney Cars 2 60 piece Giant Floor Puzzle.

Jordan is a massive Disney Cars fan, so he couldnt wait to get started!

Note the tounge out of the mouth, concentration at its best!

The pieces are really great quality, they are a good size thickness, which means they don’t bend easily and get mis-shapen. You could easily build this on carpet and not have any problems.
The age recomendation on the box is age 4+ and I think that is great recomendation, the pieces are easy for little hands to hold.
Jordan and Brooke completed the puzzle in about 10 minutes, then pulled it apart and done it again, and again, and again!! So far today the puzzle has been put together 6 times, and I am in no doubt there will be a few more to add to that before the day is out!
Here is a YouTube video we made showing you the puzzle!

You can buy the Ravensburger Disney Cars 2 Giant Floor Puzzle from Amazon, Toys R Us, and other leading toy shops and puzzle shops.

Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Starter Set Review

As a mum to a 9 year old boy and 7 year girl, I have had my fair share of grumbles at the state of the living room floor, the bedroom floor, and even the kitchen floor!! Toys everywhere! What I find even more horrendous is standing on a toy while trying to carry out everyday household tasks, cue the swearing at the hurt feet and toes!

So when I saw Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Starter Set made by Mattel, I thought all my problems had been solved!! Hot Wheels Wall Tracks attach to the wall so that your floor is left clear, why has no one thought of this before??

Opening up the set we were confronted with lots of pieces, but also in-depth instructions which my hubby found easy to follow. Included inside the box is lots of pieces to complete your track, it looked quite daunting!

The instructions also doubles up as a hanging template, so you know where to put the appropriate pieces to complete the construction. The command strips mean that the fixers won’t damage your walls.

To start off your track you simply use masking tape to attach the hanging template to the wall, then pop on the command strips in the relevant places. It was easy to do, and everything is very straight forward. You then assemble the track pieces, again everything is clearly shown in a diagram. The instructions said it would take 20 minutes, but we managed it in 10 minutes without any rushing.
Before long we had a completed wall track!

Jordan, Brooke and Daddy too, couldn’t wait to get started using the wall tracks! Here is a video demonstration of our Wall Tracks in action!

The Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Starter Set has different parts to change, whioch means you can get your car to either shoot off the long orange part, or bump down the part with flaps, or even shoot of the corner!

The wall tracks are still attached to my walls 7 days later, and it shows no signs of falling off or coming apart.
This is a fantastic space saving toy, so if you are short of space, this is the toy for you! It is also fantastic for keeping that dreaded track and cars off the floor, I have no problem with the Hot Wheels track being out, as it is out of my way to hoover!

You can purchase additional Stunt Sets for a RRP of £16.99, to add to the Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Starter Set which has an RRP of £29.99, which means even more track and even more fun!

Zhu Zhu Pets: Quest for Zhu DVD review

Zhu Zhu toys are much loved in our house, so when we were sent the new DVD to review I just knew it would be a hit. Back in 2009 I was one of those mothers who spent many hours hunting down the whole range of toys and accessories to make my kids christmas day really special.

Zhu Zhu Pets: Quest for the Zhu is a brand new feature length animated adventure that Zhu Zhu fans will love! It features the famous four, Chunk, Pipsqueak, NumNums and Mr. Squiggles.

Join the feisty, and lovable Pipsqueak as she gets swept away to the other side of the Zhuniverse on a shooting star. Along the way she befriends Chunk, Num Nums and Mr. Squiggles and together they embark on a remarkable journey across the Amazhun Jungle, filled with savage Zhus, including the wild and wacky ApeHam. Then see them travel over the treacherous snow covered mountains, past ferocious Zhurasics, saber-tooth hamsters and a giant yeti hamster.

At last the four teens arrive at the Palace of Zhu, believing their journey has ended, but unbeknown to them it has only just begun. Mezhula, a mean-spirited reptilian creature, has overthrown the palace and enslaved all the other hamsters, including the great wizard Zhu Fu. Using their wits and combined skills, Pipsqueak, Chunk, Num Nums and Mr. Squiggles will prove to be true Zhu heroes as they save day.

In the end, Pipsqueak realises she already had everything she ever dreamed of and all she really wants to do is find a way back home.

Jordan and Brooke were glued to the screen the whole time! They loved that their hamsters were on the tv and have been recreating the scenes ever since. The story was easy to follow yet kept the children engaged the whole time, a great buy, especially for the school holidays!!

Included with both the DVD and Blu-Ray discs, is two special sing-along music videos for you to enjoy, here is one to take a sneak peek at!

Zhu Zhu Pets: Quest for the Zhu is available now from all leading shops including Amazon

Rio The Ultimate Carnival Party Edition review

On Saturday we were invited to a very special preview screening of the film Rio – The Ultimate Carnival Party Edition.

This was a great chance for me and my husband Stu to take the kids out for a very special trip to London.
Jordan adores trains, and as it was his birthday weekend he was estatic to have a train journey to London and back again, not to mention the special day out he got to experience.

When we got to London Zoo we were sent to a special building where lots of other gorgeous bloggers were, along with some very yummy food. My hubby Stu took a real shine to the food that was laid on, and was pleased to tell me he ate a fair few of the sandwiches while I was getting the kids faces painted, along with some asparagus and other tasty nibbles.

The film of Rio started and the kids settled down to watch it for the first time ever.
Rio is about a blue macaw called Blu, who lives a happy little life with his owner. But after being tracked down by a bird expert, they fly over to Rio to unite Blu, the last ever male blue macaw with the only surviving female macaw.

Not all goes to plan, as they are both stolen! They have quite an adventure together, despite Blu not being able to fly.
I won’t ruin the rest of the story, as it is a brilliant film. Here is the official trailer for you to enjoy!

We all really enjoyed it. It was a film that we will be getting when it comes out, as it is a fantastic family film.

After the film one of the keepers at London Zoo bought in a real life macaw for us all to see, which everyone loved.

However my husband has a macaw too which lives at home with his mum and dad at the moment, so on Sunday we went on our own ‘meet the macaw’ trip
Here is me with Cuthbert, my new best friend.

Rio is due to be released on 24th October 2011 on both DVD and our favourite, Blu Ray.

Here is some official Rio games for you to give a go!

When I grow up….

I love capturing the kids on camera, especially when they are not expecting it! Walking home from school last week I asked my 9 year old son Jordan the burning question ‘What do you want to do when you grow up?’

I can’t wait to show Jordan this video when he is older…and it will even more interesting to see if he does meet the LEGO chief and get his dream job!!!
